Aloha there …

Aloha there you fabulous lot. Once again Wednesday was a triumph, full of fabulous ukes, plenty of plucking & lots of fun.  Firstly a huge welcome to our newest friends Katharina & Paula…we hope you enjoyed your evening with us all & that we’ll see you again soon.

We had a brilliantly busy time on Wednesday. Throughout the evening we paid tribute to the musical genius that was George Martin by playing lots of classic Beatles songs in our own splendid way. What a great man. I’m sure he would have been impressed, or at least kind!

The first half of the evening was spent trying to decide on our shortlist of songs to take with us to Rye. We played through our long list & a couple of others and managed to narrow it down to these 6 greats:

  • Rockin’ all over the world (with Live Aid intro…)
  • ‘Fings
  • Don’t Say Aloha
  • Lady Madonna
  • You Never Can Tell
  • I Wanna Be Like You

We passed around Jason’s fine Bowler Hat for a collection of cash for the fantastic, generous & lovely Andy. We intended this to recompense him for some of the expense he goes to for us all, but we are really pleased for it to go towards him & his sons fundraising for the Brighton & Hove Albion Charitable Arm. Thank you Andy, you do so much for our group – running the amazing website, contacting our new members, printing songbooks & sing-a-long books & playing brilliant bass – we are so grateful for all of it.

Anyway, I’ve gone on long enough here good people, so I will finish with a little reminder of some up coming dates:

  • 21 May – May Fayre in Lewes (performance time to be confirmed)
  • 28 May – Sussex Ukulele Festival, Peasmarsh (we are a little uncertain if this is still happening so we will keep you posted)
  • 3 July – Rye Ukulele Festival (yeay!)
  • 14 July – Uckfield Civic Centre. Be there at 6pm ready to play at 6.45pm (45 minute set)

Have a wonderful weekend everybody…see you in the usual place, usual time on the 23rd…I’ll be the one with the uke.

Abi Xx
